Why "Play Haven"?
At Play Haven, all forms of play are safe here. Play is a range of intrinsically motivated activities done for enjoyment, and it is how children learn best. Play should be child-led, and should not be bound by rules and expectations. There is no "right" way to play. All of our sessions are child-centered and play-based, focusing on each child's individual needs. This means that our sessions are based on your child's interests. We follow their lead and incorporate their goals into their preferred activities, making sessions intrinsically motivating, engaging and natural.
Jessica Teixeira, M.S., CCC-SLP
My name is Jessica Teixeira, M.S., CCC-SLP and I’m the owner of Play Haven Pediatric Therapy. I am a certified speech-language pathologist by the American Speech and Hearing Association. I received my Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Worcester State University in Worcester, MA. I have experience working with neurodivergent children and I am passionate about providing child-centered, play-based, neurodiversity-affirming therapy.
I am trained and specialize in identifying, evaluating and supporting children who communicate with delayed echolalia (gestalt language processors) using the Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) Framework. I also have experience in the diagnostics and treatment of children ages 2-21, in both school and clinic settings for a variety of speech and language needs such as early language development, speech sound disorders, non-speaking or minimally-speaking, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). I am trained in sensory processing and focus on integrating strategies to improve regulation during each and every session so that they are effective and engaging.
